SCENARIOS
An end of year review found that the employee retention level had dropped and that there had been a marked increase in the number of sick days taken. Employees said that they felt very stressed and that working there was ‘no longer the same.’
A Workplace SAFETY AUDIT established that there were inconsistencies in the dissemination of information; there was a lack of transparency; a lack of support at work and little understanding of health and wellbeing.
A R@W (Resilience at Work) Team Resilience Report highlighted several of the 7 aspects of resilience that could be strengthened. Individual R@W training allowed further analysis and ongoing coaching provided accountability to measure and manage change.
The team felt flat and unable to overcome petty disagreements to work together. There was a feeling of distrust and inequality.
Individual Resilience Profiling and training allowed each person to see where their strengths lay and where they could focus. A Team Resilience Report, highlighted areas for group and individual discussion and coaching which in turn, changed perceptions and behaviours.
The beauty of the Resilience @ Work report was that it took the personalities out of the equation.
This team felt that they were at risk of experiencing burn out. When they came in at the beginning of the day, their cup was full but by the end of the day, it was empty. They were no longer able to give energy to the things they loved.
Reviewing current procedures and identifying the hazards allowed tailored training so that individuals could reduce stress and manage their energy levels.
Linking SELF CARE to a PERFORMANCE review can decrease the risk of mental ill health.
